Biogeochemical cycle Part 4// Oxygen Cycle

Image
OXYGEN CYCLE Oxygen cycle is a biogeochemical cycle in which movement of the oxygen occur through the atmosphere, biosphere and the lithosphere. Its circulation happens along with carbon dioxide and water. The amount of oxygen in the atmosphere is about 21%. Oxygen is an important element required for life. It is mainly required for breathing, combustion, decomposition and rusting. Oxygen enters the body of all living beings in the form of atmospheric oxygen. The step involved in the oxygen cycle are- ·         During the process of photosynthesis green plants release oxygen back into the atmosphere. ·         This oxygen used by aerobic organism during the process of respiration. ·         Animals exhale carbon dioxide back into the atmosphere during the expiration. ·         This carbon dioxide is again used by the plant...

Biogeochemical Cycle Part 3// Carbon Cycle

Image
CARBON CYCLE The cyclic process in which carbon is circulated continuously through the living and non-living components of the biosphere is called carbon cycle . Carbon cycle is the biogeochemical cycle in which carbon is circulated continuously in various form through nature. Carbon is found in many forms on the earth. In its elemental form it occurs as diamond and graphite . Carbon is also found as carbonate and hydrogen carbonate salts in various minerals and as carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere. Carbon is a basic constituent of all life forms. The main steps involved in the process of the carbon cycle are- ·         Carbon is present in the atmosphere as carbon dioxide is used by plants for photosynthesis . ·         When animals eat the plant and carbon gets bioaccumulated into their bodies. ·         These animals and plants die, their bodies are de...

Biogeochemical cycle Part 2// Water Cycle

Image
WATER CYCLE The water cycle is also known as hydrologic cycle or hydrological cycle . Water cycle is the continuous exchange of water between atmosphere, land surface and ground water and living being. Water cycle is biogeochemical cycle which involves the whole process of evaporation of water, its falling on the land as rains and later its flowing into the sea through rives. The water cycle involves following steps- A.    Evaporation - ·         Evaporation is the transfer of water from the surface of water bodies like rivers, oceans etc. into the atmosphere ·         As a result of evaporation, water changes from liquid to gaseous phases. ·         In water cycle water is evaporates from oceans, ponds, lakes ground, plants (by transpiration) and animals (through sweating and respiration).   B.    Condensation- ·   ...
